About the Item

A superbly executed work, this work would have been done for reproduction in a book or magazine. Simkhovitch received quite a number of illustration jobs and could adapt his style to what was needed. A well trained academically trained artist, he could render impressive figurative works. There were a series of finely drawn and colored works with this feel in the estate of the artist and its not evident what job or publication they would have been for. It stands alone, as a lovely and sensitively rendered work of a gentleman from whom Simkhovitch probably drew from a photograph. The sight size of the work is 12 3/4 x 11. The size noted in description are the framed dimensions!
