While charcoal is naturally a loose drawing medium, David Becker uses it with precision. With a rich range of value and strong darks, Becker captures the fine details with exacting clarity. In his drawing "Pritzlaff - 1903", the subject, a male with a glazed look, is wielding an ax and pointing a finger at the viewer. This drawing is framed in a simple black frame.
