Augustin d'Herbez known as "Saint-Aubin" was a tenor and member of the Royal Academy of Music, the Paris Opera.
Louis Philibert Augustin d'Herbez Saint-Aubin married Jeanne Charlotte Schroeder, a singer herself at the Paris Opera and who would become very famous under her husband's name. Augustin Saint-Aubin began in Lyon as an actor and in Paris from 1785 (the role of Atys, and that of Pylade in Gluck's Iphigénie in Tauride). A member of the Opéra-comique on rue Favart, he remained there until 1801.

Born in Whitley Bay, Northumberland, England, Gilroy attended Durham University until his studies were interrupted by World War I, during which he served with the Royal Field Artillery. He resumed studying at the Royal College of Art in London, where he remained as a teacher. He taught at Camberwell College of Arts.[1] In 1925, he gained employment at S.H.
