Magdalena Peszkowska born in 1980 in Gdańsk, Poland. Studied in Department of Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (1999-2004). Diploma with special recognition in painting in 2004.
The character of Magdalena Peszkowska's works Series Stand is like an poetic archive of memories, which call for a classification and reconstruction of the time of childhood and the intense experience of time with everything around it. Gdansk - where the artist comes from - becomes a mythical place, This city, with a very strong symbolic potential inherent in its history, needs editing from a single point of view. Magdalena Peszkowska uses her own photos or those from the family album. She transfers them to gray field blankets and camp beds with her own secret technology Then she paints on the used objects. Many of her objects show figures from the closest circle of Peszkowska, often it is herself, her family or places close to her in Gdansk. Her objects have intentional signs of use.
The field blankets have a sewn-in wooden bar to hang them on the wall.

Arcturus Disc - contemporary solar disc gold mixed media wood circular
Located in London, GB
This recent body of work is informed by my continuing research into the physical and metaphorical nature of archaeological artefacts and votive objects, allied to the referencing of the symbolic forms and materiality of alchemy. Central to this practical investigation has been the use of ‘gold’, and the qualities that the material, with its obvious chromatic and symbolic values, seems to possess. This has driven both the conceptual and pragmatic concerns within the evolution of this work. Gold is an alluring and complex symbol of many, often conflicting meanings, avarice, greed, wealth but also of purity and celebration, and has been used as the adornment of spiritual and religious iconography as a devotional act for millennia.
The titles refer to connections I have made with the forms themselves, often when making a painting a word will emerge which acts as a form of poetic catalyst. ‘Parsival’ or Percivale/Peredur was the knight questing for the holy grail...

Ellen Hackl Fagan, ColorSoundGrammar_3 2010, Abstraction, Meditative
Located in Darien, CT
Inviting the accidental while painting, the artist's materials continue to reveal limitless possibilities for improvisation, like jazz music. Influenced by scientific theories-both real and imagined, kitsch, music, decorative art and indigenous textiles, Fagan's abstract paintings and interactive performance build connections between color and surface to sound.
This exploration has led to creating a series of interactive games with viewers, the most recent being The Alphabet Game. To play, viewers select, from colored squares, the color(s) that best represent each note in the familiar ABC Song melody. Through these playful interventions their thoughts about color and music are explored in-depth. Documenting their responses in the form of photographs and notes in journals, Fagan has compiled the results of fifteen artists who played the Alphabet Game during a lecture on color where the artist was the guest presenter in order to create this particular painting.
Fagan distilled the data gathered and painted this visualization of a color/sound alphabet based on the colors selected by this artist's group. These alphabet paintings introduce a wonderful completion to this pseudo-scientific investigation and celebrate painting...

Double Flapman
By Ernest Trova
Located in Boca Raton, FL
AP 2
Ernest Trova was an artist whose signature creation, a gleaming humanoid known as “Falling Man,” appeared in a series of sculptures and paintings and became a symbol of an imperfect humanity hurtling into the future. Mr. Trova was largely known as a sculptor, but his “Falling Man,” a standard of Pop Art, began life as a painted figure, taking shape on his easel in the early 1960s. Faceless, armless, with a hint of a belly and, its name notwithstanding, of indeterminate sex, the figure struck a variety of poses, sometimes juxtaposed with other like figures, sometimes with mechanical appendages.
In October 1963 his one-man show, “Falling Man Paintings,” was the inaugural exhibition of the Pace Gallery on West 57th Street in Manhattan; it sold out, with the works purchased by the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the architect Philip Johnson and others. In three dimensions, the “Falling Man” figure was made from different materials over the years — nickel and chrome-plated bronze, enamel on aluminum, stainless steel — and often, like the Oscar statuette, was polished to an industrial sheen. It was clearly a space age creation, a forerunner of C3PO, the golden robot in “Star Wars.”
“He found the space age both inspiring and dehumanizing,” Arne Glimcher, who founded the Pace Gallery, now PaceWildenstein, said in an interview on Friday. By the end of the 1960s, “Falling Man” had become Mr. Trova’s trademark, provoking Hilton Kramer, the art critic of The New York Times, to write that Mr. Trova had subjected his favorite figure “to almost as many variations as the Kama Sutra describes for the act of love.”
Ernest Tino Trova Jr. was born in St. Louis on Feb. 19, 1927. Shortly after his high school graduation his father, an industrial tool designer and inventor, died, and young Ernie, as he was known, went to work, most significantly as a window dresser for a department store. His early paintings were in the Abstract Expressionist mode, but his attentiveness to the mannequins had an influence on his art. Through the 1970s and 1980s he continued with “Falling Man,” though he also became interested in formalized, almost mechanical-seeming landscapes, and the figures began to appear, reduced in size, within the context of abstractly rendered gardens.
A self-taught artist with an impish wit and an eccentric turn of mind, Mr. Trova craved the recognition that was available to artists only in New York City, but he never visited for more than a week at a time and made almost no friends among New York artists. He did befriend Ezra Pound. As a fevered fan of Julio Iglesias...
