Ahn Hyun-Ju
Born in Seoul, Ahn Hyun-Ju has lived and worked in Germany for over twenty years. Her work bears the mark of her training in both painting and sculpture. Her abstract paintings, influenced by 1960s and 1970s American minimalism, refute any metaphorical language and all narrative intentions. Their composition is characterised by the contrast between simple and minimalist geometric shapes with deep, intense colours. Ahn Hyun-Ju has been featured five times in the collective exhibition “Die Grosse” at the Kunstpalast Museum in Düsseldorf and in the collective exhibition “Colore non solo”, presented at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 and at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna in 2006. “How difficult is it to see a thing as a thing itself and recognize the beauty of the being itself? A thing without being a medium of meanings and metaphors which are based in our convention?”

Description
Justin Ponmany is from a contemporary school of painting that is rooted in the media and cinema industries of Mumbai, but has strong identifications with elements from Western Post-Modern painting. This work much like others in this series radiates a fervent sense of individual voice and pointed address.
His signature use of phosphorescent pigment in combination with graphic reproduction and photo manipulation gives a fanciful and evanescent dimension to his work. Ponmany’s materials result in works that are physically dynamic and visually alter themselves when viewed with different angles, distances and lighting conditions. The dreamy rainbow prisms...
