About the Item
Painter and Aquarellist. Nanterre (92) March 13th 1900 – Clichy (Seine) Dec 29th 1950.
He was the son of Frank Boggs, an American citizen. He started his career with the nickname “William Frank” or only “Frank”. It is only in 1919 that he changed definitely his nickname to Frank Will. Between 1914 and
1918, he lived with his father , blvd Clichy. In 1916, he started to spend most of his time doing watercolors which were more attractive than his oils, also considered too heavy. One year after, he met Gen Paul, who
influenced him at the start, and Leprin, who became his friends. After many researches on him, it is practically impossible to list all the possible addresses he had while living on the Butte de Chaumont. During
the war, he lived at the number 37, rue de Pigalle, and moved afterwards, 1 Blvd de Clichy above the Café des Artistes.
In 1926, Frank Will received an heritage of 80.000ff from his father. He decided to place this money at a bar rue Caulaincourt. The owner of the place was to use it to charge his drinks as well as those of his friends.
As you can imagine, it took only a few months to have it spent it out.
As a whole, his production was quiet large and his works could be found at the Gallerie George Petit (1929), at Henri Bureau 54 rue de Rochechouart.
Frank Will died at age 50.
