2015

About the Item

Nancy Agati’s "Continuum - Zinc" is a mixed media painting with gestural lines in predominant blue and white on black artist's paper mounted on wood pane. It has a French cleat on the back for hanging -- there is no need to frame. It is signed on the back. This painting was exhibited at NoBA Artspaces in Bala Cynwyd, PA in 2018. Agati's work addresses transformations and patterns in nature through physical investigations of materials. Her multiple disciplinary work includes works on paper, sculpture, textiles, site-specific installation and public art. Agati has exhibited her work widely throughout Philadelphia, nationally, and abroad including solo exhibitions at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Pentimenti Gallery, Philadelphia, and Hillyer Art Space, Washington, DC. Nancy Agati was a recipient of a Windows of Opportunity Grant from the Leeway Foundation and has been awarded artist-in-residence placements at the Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico, Lo Studio dei Nipoti, Calabria, Italy, and Main & Station in Nova Scotia. Her time spent in Southern Italy initiated several bodies of work, including Portico Series, which relate to plant formations, traditional lace patterning, and architectural geometry. Works from the Portico Series are in several prominent collections, three of which were recently added to the permanent collection at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
