About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Landlocked (Cactus, a million needles)” is an 12.375 x 16 inch unique abstract mixed media print represented on Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper utilizing both printmaking and creative photography. The artist’s recent relocation from coastal Massachusetts to the high desert of New Mexico has yielded her new series “Landlocked” where the artist merges desert images with ocean and coastline pictorials. This modern abstracted landscape depicts a harbor and an expansive bridge that leads to a snow covered coastline. In contrast images of cholla cactus are placed at the bottom of the composition. Contrasting hues of blue, red, yellow, grey, and siena are thoughtfully utilized as cropped and deconstructed photographs are inkjet printed on and within applications of block printing ink and gouache. The words “millions daily” in vintage script and carefully placed orbs give whimsy to this dynamic piece. DeGrandpre earned her BFA in Visual Design is 1987. Her esthetic and creative approach have a graphic sensibility that is very evident in her art work as she creates a lattice work of imagery, form, and colors that seamlessly incorporate common imagery with the and abstract. This contemporary print is signed under the right hand corner of the image and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
DeGrandpre has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
