About the Item
Pezhman was born in 1976 in Shiraz – the center of Iran’s cultural civilization. Emigrating three years later as the result of the revolution, Pezhman grew up in the United States. Adventurous since childhood, Pezhman is an avid explorer; he thrives outdoors, trekking, kayaking, mountain climbing, and fishing. Beginning as a photographer, he captured destination landscapes on film; inspired by the contrast between natural and urban environments. As his work evolved into mixed media he has channeled his photography talents to explore the surfaces and textures of his own creation.
Pezhman cites his own drive for exploration and his first photography road trip at 17 as the primary influences for picking up a camera in the first place. Passion set in as he immersed himself in the world of photography: converting his bathroom to a dark room, enrolling in photography programs, and landing an assistantship with a prominent studio. As his career progressed so did photography. Digital photography emerged and quickly moved in on traditional techniques. This sparked in Pezhman a creative stall, unsatisfied with the instant gratification nature of this new method. Craving the involvement he once had developing his imagery, Pezhman pushed forward into mixed media; slowly at first, with only oil paints, but adding more diverse media as his creative passion was ignited once again.
As a mixed media artist Pezhman explores the surfaces of his works, developing textures and colors to convey vivid sensations of actual experiences. His process involves photography, oil, acrylic, textiles, resin, encaustic, tar, and any other materials he finds to create dynamic texture. With several sources of inspiration for his collections, Pezhman’s method is born from a spirit of exploration to preserve timeless moments discovered along a journey.
Pezhman continues his explorations of mixed media in Atlanta, Georgia. His work is collected and displayed across the United States.

Pezhman was born in 1976 in Shiraz — the center of Iran's cultural civilization. He and his family relocated to the United States just three years later. Since his adolescence in the States, Pezhman has been exploring both natural and urban environments through photography. A passionate environmentalist, he thrives outdoors where he gains peace and introspection. Not solely relegated to rural setting, however, Pezhman finds cities equally enticing, noticing a unique history and character behind every architectural detail of the urban streets. Instructors of the Photography and Cinema program at the Atlanta College of Art encouraged Pezhman to experiment with various forms of photographic expression, including architecture, portraits, and location shooting. Deciding to make a professional career from his talent, Pezhman entered the New York School of Photography, where he honed his skills in the medium-format camera. With an urge to explore diverse cultures and imagery, Pezhman traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Initially, he carried his camera with him simply as a means of recording the different people and places of his travels. However, his photography quickly evolved to convey the vivid sensations of actual experiences. He regarded his camera as a tool for unearthing a location's archeology, creating portals between the present and the past. By discovering these living histories within his environment, Pezhman saw himself reflected in his surroundings: he, too, held a culturally vibrant, although latent history in his own Iranian heritage. Pezhman continues to pursue professional photography in Atlanta. His work is continually displayed and collected across the United States.

Large Scale 1980s Laser Holography, Cvetkovich Organic Hologram Collage
By Tom Cvetkovich
Located in Surfside, FL
In this holographic collage the artist, and inventor Thomas Cvetkovich uses a method of recording an object image of a first hologram as a second hologram is provided. This holographic method is known as compact holographic human interface, and was invented by him. Reconstructed images of holograms, in this case a fish, a banyan leaf and flora and fauna abstract forms, generally become visible when illuminated by a source of light having an angle of reconstruction. Thse are created with laser and computer technology.
An artile in Life magazine was all it took it took to influence Tom Cvetkovich's career path, one that has brought his Youngstown company, Chromagem, an international clientele.
It focused on new technology that linked the use of lasers in producing holograms, three-dimensional and free-standing images. Reminiscing on Chromagem's past work, Cvetkovich said, One of the things we're most proud of is a series of U.S. postage stamps, achievement in space. We did three stamps for that. We've done postage stamps for Canada, the German government. We've also done work for Moet & Chandon, the champagne; Estee Lauder; and the cover of the 'Star Trek Generations' box set.
Over the past two Christmases, Chromagem created a special variety of Reynolds Wrap that features snowflake holograms stamped on the entire roll.
Cvetkovich created his first hologram when he was a student at Kent State University in 1974. He took science and art classes to gain the knowledge on how to make the creations running through his head and onto a sketchpad into a fully realized form.
"I'm coming at it, primarily, from an art background, but with some science background."
He continued his studies at Lake Forest College. It was the first place in the world to offer a workshop in holography. I was there for their third year.
Combining art, science
Next, he earned a master's degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. The Art Institute was just starting a holography lab. Actually, I had to build my own because theirs wasn't ready.
When I was going to college, I would do a math class and then make art. I could tell I was using different parts of my brain.
Over the years, Cvetkovich has developed a mental truce between the creative and scientific sides of his brain.
At this point, it's more of a craft, he said. I don't rely on a lot of math or science at all. I try to keep abreast at what's being invented, what new...

Tim White-Sobieski
Alpha LV#1, 2005
Unique photo print on canvas
28 × 20 in 71.1 × 50.8 cm
Tim White Sobieski has been commissioned by LVMH multiple times, and in 2005, was invited to create an artwork for the new Louis Vuitton Flagship Store on Champs-Elysees in Paris alongside artists James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson. The project consisted of a 24-meter programmed fiber-optics video wall. Another colossal video wall was installed at the Petit Palais for the celebration of the launch. This was a unique cooperation of the three artists. In 2006, the Louis Vuitton Company invited Tim White-Sobieski back to participate in an exhibition entitled "Icons", an interpretation of the iconic logo-bags. Other artists included Marc Jacobs, Zaha Hadid, Ugo Rondinone, Sylvie Fleury, Shigeru Ban, Robert Wilson and Andrée Putman.
From the 2006 ‘Icones’ exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton, Paris.
celebrating Marc Jacobs’ reinvention of their iconic pieces,
works by Andree Putman, LV invited the architects Zaha Hadid and Shigeru Ban, the video artist Tim White-Sobieski, the director-scenographer Robert Wilson, and the artists James Turrell, Shigeru Ban, Sylvie Fleury, Bruno Peinado, and Ugo Rondinone to riff on their fashion logos
Louis Vuitton's classic designs are an inextricable part of chic travel history. From trunks to leather bags to wine holders, their styles have traveled across time and fashion, becoming classics that never look old. With the genius of Marc Jacobs, these icons have entered new domains where art and fashion are directly linked.
Tim White is a video and installation artist based in New York and Berlin. He was educated as an architect and dedicated himself to visual art and filmmaking, exploring the fields of painting, sculpture, photography, video, video installations and light installations throughout his career. He began showing in New York in the early 1990s with his "Blue Paintings." Emphasis on the role of the subconscious in his paintings had affinities with visual abstractionism and literary existentialism.
He has consistently been at the technological forefront of video and light art, being called a "video maverick" and "an abstract "'painter of motion.'"
Tim White-Sobieski was born in 1961 and emigrated to the United States in 1993. He attended New York University and Parsons School of Design before embarking on a career in art.
Much of his work draws from literary work that has inspired the artist, and he has often featured icons of American literature in his installations. Writers such as Walt Whitman, John Steinbeck, John Updike, Kurt Vonnegut, J.D. Salinger, William Faulkner, and Robert Penn Warren all have a permanent presence in Tim White-Sobieski’s oeuvre.
Musically, White-Sobieski composes most of his own film and video soundtracks, but also incorporates the work of his contemporaries such as Brian Eno, David Byrne, Robert Fripp...
