St. Lucinda of Lake Charles displays the Americana icon herself through painted collage of blue and orange hues. Felker's process showcases intentional use of the negative while building up vibrant layers of color. "I set out on a journey each time with an infinite number of directions, never quite knowing where it will lead. Getting lost is the objective–existing in an alternate reality outside of time. There is a mystery and magic to how it unfolds that I have no desire to “figure out.”
Lucinda’s slow, steady rise to prominence began in the 1980’s, but her breakthrough record, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, which took ten years to record, came in 1998. Her unique blend of country, blues, folk and rock placed her on the throne of a new genre, where she still reigns as the Queen of Americana.
