About the Item

A prominent Canadian Inuit sculptor and draftsman* and the father of a family of artists, Tuna Iquliq (aka: Toona Erkoolik [see footnote for more]; Inuit Disc Number*: E2-167) was born near Baker Lake, Northwest Territories (now Nunavut) and died there. He also lived for about two years (1960–1962) in Rankin Inlet. For over 50 years, his works have been included in numerous important Inuit art exhibitions including “Treasures from the Commonwealth” held at the Royal Academy, London, England and “Sculpture of the Inuit: Masterworks of the Canadian Arctic”* held at the British Museum.
