This piece is from my Figurative series. When drawing a woman's gentle and mysterious image I experience joy, peace and harmony. Harmony to me is a poetry of lines and colors that has a life of its own. This piece is made using dyes and acrylic paints on Chinese silk. When applied, liquid dyes and paints quickly flow across the silk. In order to halt this movement, a material called a resist is used, which stops the dyes from spreading and creates strong lines, shapes, and details. Once the painting is completed, the surface is steamed to make the dyes bright and color-fast.
About the Artist
Silk is the fabric of the soul. On it, Yelena Sidorova pours paint in colorful sheets that shimmer and glisten with emotion. The process of painting on silk requires a delicate approach. Yelena has the gentleness required to weave mysteriously provocative paintings. She says, I transform the world around me: every drop of dye on silk is one drop of magic into my existence.

Artist Jennifer Ross depicts a white horse with a stunning display of autumn colors in the background. She references the piece after a poem by Richard Wilber about wading through a fall meadow. Jennifer composes the equine portrait using her Kintsugi eggshell technique, a Japanese art form of repairing broken objects with gold lacquer. The white shell fragments form a striking image of the majestic creature, highlighted with a few touches of metallic gold to catch the light.
About the Artist
Artist Jennifer Ross creates intimate portraits of birds, nests and horses. Jennifer grew up surrounded by the art of her mother and grandfather. Her attempt to follow in their footsteps presented detours, however, and she ended up working in art galleries selling other's work. But her desire to paint continued to grow throughout the years. In 2008, a gift certificate...

Artist Yelitza Diaz exhibits nude figures climbing minimalist geometric structures. She seeks to question the basic idea of minimalism by adding the human form to the composition. Yelitza experiments with the concept of representing man's journey of spirituality and elevation of being. The piece elicits the viewer to find meaning from their own experiences.
About the Artist
Born in Venezuela, Yelitza Diaz;s life has been wrapped in the arts since childhood. She founded a gallery with her husband, who is also an artist, and was successful for many years until the crime and corruption in the local government became unbearable. They now live in South Carolina, where she makes art that explores human existentialism and the political and social developments of her native country. Her sculptures are made with ceramic techniques using a minimalist contemporary style. Fun fact: Yelitza designed the town seal for her native Municipio Falc;n in Venezuela.
