"When confinement is a life-or-death necessity, a window becomes your best friend, it gives you hope, strength, and freedom," says artist Yelitza Diaz. "Loneliness can be hard, but by clinging to your window, it strengthens you, and helps you go beyond your limits overcoming all obstacles with success and pleasure. This work represents the being that is creative without limits." The drapes flow swept by the wind, as the beings look far into the distance. The Small Beings and drapes in this piece are made of resin and painted to look like bronze.

About the Artist
Born in Venezuela, Yelitza Diaz;s life has been wrapped in the arts since childhood. She founded a gallery with her husband, who is also an artist, and was successful for many years until the crime and corruption in the local government became unbearable. They now live in South Carolina, where she makes art that explores human existentialism and the political and social developments of her native country. Her sculptures are made with ceramic techniques using a minimalist contemporary style. Fun fact: Yelitza designed the town seal for her native Municipio Falc;n in Venezuela.
