About the Item

This lot is composed of two Autograph LettersSigned by Felice Casorati to the Countess and Paron of art, Anna Laetitia Pecci Blunt. 1930's. In Italian. In excellent conditions , except for minor aging signs, original envelpe included. In details: Autograph Letter Signed. Pavarolo Torinese, July 23rd 1938. On cream colored paper, on letterhead "Pavarolo Torinese". Signed by Daphne and Felice Casorati. Interesting apology letter by the Italian artist after he had to decline the invitation for a geat dance held at the Countess' manor in Marlia. Autograph Letter Signed. Turin, November 24th 1938. On cream colored paper, on letterhead "52 Via Mazzini, Torino". Letter of thanks between the Italian artist and his mentor. " Thank you for your kind interest and for the cheque... Four years after the realization of "Daphne a Pavarolo"(1934), Felice Casorati and his wide Dafne lovely kept in touch with their mentor. Felice Casorati (Novara, 1883 – Torino, 1963) Hermetic painter, silent and solitary person, Felice Casorati was one of the most appreciated members of Magic Realism, a movement following the Post-War period. It sought to express a need of restoring order, and a wish to end avant-garde and finally repossess the classical antiquity and spirit. He deserved some rewards for his merits: at the end of 30s, he won the prize of Painting at the Venice Biennal, the Carnegie Prize in Pittsburg in 1937, the “Grand Prix” in Paris in 1938, many others in San Francisco in 1939, and an award for painting at the Venice Biennal in 1942.
