Santa Barbara, September 26th 1944. One page, four-sided, on light blue colored paper, in 8°, in English. On leterhead paper "Woodstock Pride's crossing - Massachusetts".
Excellent conditions, usual folds. Perfectly readable, including original envelope.
Confidential Letter concerning family memories between the Italian painter of the Risorgimento, F. Maria Guardabassi (Umbertide, Perugia 1867 - Palm Beach, Florida, 1952), owner of the Villa La Torre Monaldi in Perugia, attended by the young Countess Pecci.
"You are too young to remember me in Perugia, my native town, when you were a very little girl and me allready a young man aand a great lover of art and music".
This autograph letter with a nostalgic beginning, continues with an apology of the Pecci family name. Indeed the prestige of the family grew at the end of the nineteenth century, when Cardinal Vincenzo Gioacchino Pecci ascended to the papal throne with the name of Leo XIII.
Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971)
Better known as Mimì Pecci-Blunt , The Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel.

Peter Gee (1932–2005) was a British-born artist and developer who spent most of his life living and working in New York City. He was active in the pop art movement of the 60s.
Biography:
Gee was born on July 23, 1932 in Leicestershire, England. He was interested in drawing as a child and worked as a graphic designer for the British army when he joined at the age of 18. By the end of the 50s, he had exhibited at the Denise Rene Gallery in Paris, where he lived briefly, and the Axiom Gallery in London. He came to the US in 1962.
Throughout the 60s, Gee experienced a high degree of success as a pop artist in Manhattan. His work from this era has been collected by The Museum of Modern Art in both New York City and Kyoto, The Smithsonian and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Gee exhibited with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana for the "Word and Image" show in 1968 at the Museum of Modern Art. During this time, he was also teaching classes at the New School, the School of Visual Arts, and the Harvard Architectural School.
