Jean-Michel Basquiat's Trumpet is one of his most prominent representations of his unique style and his ability to blend elements of pop culture, classical art and social criticism. Created in 1984, Trumpet depicts a human figure wearing a headdress that appears to be inspired by a trumpet, a recurring visual symbol in Basquiat's work. The figure, stylized and full of energy, connects to the traditions of African art and the aesthetics of street graffiti, which are characteristic of Basquiat's style.
