About the Item

Autograph Letter of Invitation written and signed by Mario Tozzi to the Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt. Signed. Rome, March 7th 1934. In Italian. In Perfect conditin, with the usual medial folds. Original envelope included. Completely readable with an elegant calligraphy. A really interesting letter in which the "Noble Woman", the Countess Pecci-Blunt, is not only formally invited to the Roman exhibition of the Italian artist, but also courted: both of them pursue the rebirth of Italian art as their goal. "Ho seguito con così viva ammirazione la Sua attività atta a spiegare alla Francia l'importanza della rinascita nostra". Mario Tozzi (Frossombrone, 1895, Saint-Jean-du-Gard, 1979) In 1926, the Italian painter, Mario Tozzi found again Licini in Paris and came into contact with the Italian avant-garde painters. He founded the "Groupe des Sept" (known as Les Italiens de Paris) with Campigli, De Pisis, Paresce, De Chirico, Savinio and Severini, a group that quickly acquired international fame. He attended the Caffè in Montparnasse and became friends with Zadkine, Giacometti, Gonzales, Fini and Magnelli. Meet Ozenfant, Lurcat, Max Jacob. In 1935, at the time of this letter, Tozzi lived a growing critical succes and continued his intense artistic activity; his artworks were bought by the museums of Grenoble, Paris, Rome, Athens, Berlin, Bern, Budapest, Geneva, Lyon, Mannheim, Moscow, San Paolo. He was awarded with the "Legion of Honor" by the French government. In 1936 he moved to Rome, where he devoted himself to the fresco technique.
