About the Item
This original monotype was made from found textures and objects to make this unique landscape. This monotype is printed on Rives BFK 280 gsm Printmaking Paper. I used found objects with various shapes and textures in my original prints to make the monotype have depth and texture. All of my monotypes are unique and one-of-a-kind original monotypes.
This monotype collage comes framed in a 1.5"x1.5" white frame on a floated matte and archival glass.
Sarah is an artist and designer based in New York City. Her artistic focus is monotypes, one-of-a-kind works created by painting directly onto a plate and running the plate through a printing press. Sarah is drawn to this style of printmaking because it always includes an element of surprise. Monotypes can also not be reproduced and are therefore different from other printmaking processes like intaglio or lithography. Sarah likes to utilize the unique and unexpected textures of both natural and man-made objects such as vegetable wrappers, bubble wrap, leaves, or dried flowers in her work. Her inspiration stems from things she sees in her everyday life in New York City, memories of her travels and her childhood growing up near the ocean in Massachusetts. Through her art, Sarah incorporates her keen sense of color, design, and the Yin and Yang of calm and bustling energy creating abstract, modern designs inspired by nature. Sarah obtained both her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Studio and Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Fashion Design, and Merchandising from The University of Rhode Island. Over the past decade, she has continued her printmaking education at the National Academy of Design and New York School of the Arts in New York City. Her prints have been featured in numerous shows including The Other Art Fair, The National Academy of Design, NYSA, IPCNY, and High Point Market. Sarah works full-time as a product developer for a luxury fashion house. Her collection of artwork, fabric, pillows, and other decorative textiles are available at Artxtiles.com.
