About the Item

This rare and historical handwritten land deed dates back to the early 19th century and is a remarkable example of American ecclesiastical and legal history. Dated October 19th, 1832, it is an official vellum document issued by The Corporation for the Relief of the Widows and Children of Clergymen in the Communion of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America. The deed records the sale of land to Henry Conard and contains detailed, flowing cursive script, original wax seals, signatures, and legal boundaries, making it not only a legal artifact but also a beautiful example of period penmanship. It is partially damaged but preserved in protective archival plastic for stability.
