About the Item
A joyful expression of bright colours, ‘Instinct’ is one of a new series of acrylic works by Adam Cohen. The American artist is known for his grand gestural style—a hallmark of abstract expressionism. The colour palette for this piece is a melange of turquoise, purple, pink, orange, green, yellow, white and black. Cohen’s works are highly textured—his impasto method—applying thick layers of paint visibly adds to the energy of each piece.

Cohen studied at Philadelphia’s Tyler School of Art and lived and painted in Rome for a year. After many successful years as an illustrator, he returned to his first love--painting. Adam Cohen lives and paints in the Catskills, NY. Cohen has exhibited extensively in the US, Europe, Asia and most recently in Amsterdam and Venice.
