About the Item
“…A vision to project…a tradition to sustain…”
Painting has a tradition perhaps as long as art itself. Throughout that long
and varied history, painting has been different things to different people and cultures. Yet it is those aspects of painting which have been similar to all
painters of all cultures which my painting aspire to sustain and propagate: the medium itself, a delight in the invention and reinvention of the act of painting, and the depiction of vitality and order endemic to all varied forms
using the very specific qualities of medium, color and form.
What I’m after are dense, complex, undidactic images, wherein the poetry is readily accessible. In my paintings the shapes are the “horses”---ideas are the “landscape”.
I agree with Goethe when he said,
“Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but not as interesting as looking.”
