About the Item
A brushed square of burnt orange rimmed in berry red moves out from the centre of this four foot square acrylic canvas saturated with layers of billowing light brown and mauve. The foot of the canvas is defined by a slim strip of maroon below a swath of sky blue onto which is imposed a short calligraphic script in hot red. This glyphic script suggests a more deliberate communication that the artist refers to as visual poetry:

Reading and absorbing the images of many manuscripts, sheets of music or pages of scripted writing throughout my life, has always led me to that curious space between perception and interpretation." She studied music, philosophy, visual poetry, visual arts and printmaking in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many public, corporate and private collections worldwide.

Alice Teichert
(b.1959, Paris, FR) Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for her use of bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in Germany, France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections including the MacLaren Art Centre, Global Affairs Canada, and the Musée de la Ville de Valence, France. An English-German edition of a monograph by Dagmar Täube, titled In)Formation - On the Philosophy and Art of Alice Teichert has recently been published by Hirmer Publishers, Münich, Germany
