Gradwell's paintings are a sense of time spent when travelling within a particular landscape/place. The paintings are an amalgamation of sights, sounds and color rather than a particular view.
'The particular isn't important to me other than memory. When I paint I may revisit or a , 'new play'. My essence is capturing all in the time and place . Composition and color elements reflect my own improvisational approach. I always put an element of the human in my paintings as one can configure'.
