Ángela Mena’s work is defined by a recurring element that permeates each of her projects: color. From the landscapes of her early years to the sunsets, and in every fold of the figures in The Power of Color series, color remains a central force. The artist’s study of color and the depth she achieves in her compositions draw us into her world. The Power of Color This project finds its origins in the celebration of kanreki (還暦), an ancient Chinese tradition marking a new stage in life—a second childhood. The color red is used in this celebration to symbolize the spirit of youth and renewal. The Power of Color embraces this idea of transformation, beginning with red as its foundation and then expanding into other colors. Vínculos Salvajes (Wild Bonds) Tie, link, connection, conjunction, union, harmony, or fusion—all synonyms of the term bond found in the Spanish Royal Academy dictionary. This project, which stems from The Power of Color series, continues to incorporate geometry but in a more organic and fluid way. It speaks of encounters and gatherings, of the fusion between elements, and of how different interactions between planes, light, and shadow reveal new ways of composing and committing—ultimately, of being.
