12" x 9" (HxW) Oil on Canvas Paper
A modern take on an impressionist landscape, this oil painting by artist April Moffatt is nearly abstract, almost a color field painting. The canvas is filled with large swaths of blue, peach, and grays with undertones of green, purple, and blue. The composition is given further dimension with lines of ochre and hints of black. A simple and neutral contemporary painting depicting the serene desert landscape of southwestern United States.

Artist Commentary:
Neutral paint colors and loose abstract brushstrokes. The line of the horizon is broken and hazy.
About the Artist:
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
