Composición XXVI , 1955
Oil on canvas
110 x 66 cm

The work is registered under No. 254, in the General Catalog (1930 - 1999) La Pintura Como Razón de Ser, edited by Armando Barrios Foundation, Caracas, Venezuela, 2005.
" Armando Barrios was born in Caracas on August 21, 1920. Son of Serapio Barrios and Carmen Rodríguez de Barrios, both of Spanish origin.
Since his adolescence he developed a great love for the arts, so from the age of 12 he was already studying at the School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts in Caracas. His searches in the artistic field were initially directed towards the study of the Impressionist and Cubist schools.
In 1942, at the age of 22, he would win his first honorable mention for his work The Girl in Blue at the III Annual Official Exhibition of Venezuelan Art.
In 1945, after having made several trips abroad where he continued his studies in painting and music -in which he had ventured a few years earlier- he received the "José Loreto Arismendi" award, with the painting Nude.
After obtaining numerous national and international awards, he made several trips to North America and Europe.
In 1952, the Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva entrusted several mosaic mural works to him, to be used in the project of Synthesis of the Arts in the University City of Caracas, two of them are placed on the facade of the Olympic Stadium and another on the Rector's Square.
In 1958, he became Director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas.
Armando Barrios passed away on December 2, 1999 in the city of Caracas. The mortuary chapel where his remains were veiled was the same place where his painting workshop had worked in the 1950s."
