About the Item
Behnaz Sohrabian's 'Seam #7' is a vertical Abstract Acrylic on Canvas painting measuring 60 x 48 x 1.5 inches. The large scale composition is an arrangement of areas of blacks, grays, pinks and warm whites. The artist makes use of a variety of mark-making techniques, including brushed areas, drips, smudges, and more deliberate line-work.
Born and educated in Kermanshah, Iran, Behnaz Sohrabian discovered her love of art, freedom, and creative expression as a small child, developed a passion for painting, and began her professional art career at the age of 10. Behnaz has earned a B.S. in Applied Chemistry, a B.A. in Painting, and a Master of Arts in Art Studies. After completing her Master’s degree she immigrated to the United States in 2010 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2017.

The objects in the painting cannot be directly linked to the content of the literary origin or motif. These segments are quotes of descriptive elements from prehistoric votive sculptures of idols (the Paleolithic culture from Lepenski vir, the oldest urban settlement in Europe, situated at the banks of the Danube river, around 8,5 millennia old.
