About the Item
"Laying a Field" was inspired by constellations and fractals. I was also experimenting in mold making using a type of vacuum molds. The lines you see are slightly raised above the picture plane and highlighted using graphite powder. The piece can work both in portrait and in landscape. It is very calming and interesting to look at.

Ben Watkins was born in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1977. He holds a BFA from Murray State University and a MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, both degrees in furniture design. He current lives and works in Lincoln, Rhode Island. He has been exhibited nationally and is in both public and private collections.
