About the Item
Thank you for stopping by and looking at this wonderful piece. Based on an afghan, the patchwork of colors you see are leftovers pigments from past projects. Every artist has piles of old salsa jar with a bit of paint left in the bottom. These jars get placed on a shelf and forgotten for years and instead of yeeting them in the bin, I came up with this series.
On a personal note, these colors act as touchstones many memories in the studio. As I joked, they give me the "feels" and I hope that translates to whoever purchases this work.
Process: I hand carve the backside plexiglass and fill the void with the leftover pigments, the artwork is actually reverse painted and you are looking through the plexiglass to the color. This technique creates incredible color saturation along with a three dimensional quality.
