About the Item
This work belongs to my ongoing series Oju lari, but beneath the surface…, a body of 25 paintings that explore layers of being, identity, and healing through abstract figuration and vibrant color.
In Akogun II, the figure emerges boldly from a turquoise background, clothed in cascading green textures that blend fluidly with gestural sweeps of white and black. The dark textured crown suggests both resilience and individuality, while the flight of butterflies to the left symbolizes transformation, freedom, and rebirth. The abstract composition gives a sense of motion like a spirit caught between worlds, grounded yet expansive.

The interplay of controlled brushwork with spontaneous acrylic pours makes every section of the painting unrepeatable.
The balance of bright, calming blues with deep, grounding tones evokes both serenity and strength.
