About the Item
Caroline Besse creates unique vibrant paintings on paper using crushed minerals that she carefully sources as pigments. She mixes Chinese ink with crushed minerals that she carefully applies onto Japanese washi paper to create unique luminescent and vibrant colorful composition. As the light reflects onto the paper, the individual colors and dimensions of the minerals come to life. Her paintings are then mounted on panels to create individual artworks or are applied directly on walls or wood panels to create unique accent in luxury homes.
Besse has invented a new language, mixing Western and Eastern techniques that she has learned over the years. Her perception of colors is influenced by Goethe and Steiner’s theories while her artistic practice is rooted into the Chan tradition which puts the body at the center of the inner and the outside worlds. The conscious, the subconscious, the body, and the soul: all these elements speak to one another in Caroline Besse’s paintings, resulting in a final product which is both visceral and holistic.
Since the beginning of her career, Caroline Besse has developed an eco-responsible approach and a deep concern for the raw materials she uses.
The choice of natural materials - colors, binders, glues and papers - are consubstantial to her artistic approach.
Her portfolio boasts high-end projects for Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris, Maison Cartier in Miami, Rimowa in Hong Kong, the French embassy in Bangui, Central African Republic, as well as interior designers and private clients. For each site specific commissions she creates personalized and individual proposals, bathing the space into the poetry of unique custom made colors of crushed minerals. In 2022, she is awarded the prestigious Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, awarded annually to an artist based on the quality of their work. She is now represented by the Muriel Guépin Gallery in New York City.

Crusade - red warm toned grey color stripe abstract contemporary oil painting
Located in New York, NY
In this abstract oil painting, Dintino brings about images of bloody battles, or crusades. The red is angry and at some points dark, though he juxtaposes that with a bright and influential light. This light is quite god-like, which makes sense when put in the context of the Crusades. The blurred colors in this piece almost read as 'nostalgic' or historical, that the image of the past is so old that it has blurred with age.
Dintino's work has to do with the melding of title and piece. His paintings all illustrate his ideas and words through visuality and color. Creating large panoramic pieces makes his work atmospheric and immersive, allowing the viewer to literally feel the title of his painting. This is quite a synesthetic approach to making art and allows ideas and words to sing.
Born in San Francisco, California in 1964, Patrick Dintino grew up in Sunnyvale, in the south bay area. He went to college in San Diego earning a BA degree in Industrial Arts from San Diego State University, and co-founded Artists in Motion art...

Untitled Pink And Grey 1 - Textural Abstract Minimalist Artwork on Canvas
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Painting is fearlessly following an instinct for Togolese artist Olympio. His work is honest and palpable—exposed, raw, and direct. It is an unfiltered manifestation of his soul. Bright, energetic marks encircle rough textures, balanced by peaceful compositions emanating from below the surface.
Olympio’s art transforms walls into landscapes of color and form, creating an engaging focal point that elevates any room's aesthetic to a new level. The heavily textured layers in Olympio’s work create a tangible sense of depth, drawing the eye and enriching the space with a bold yet nuanced presence.
This 48 inch high by 36 inch wide mixed-media painting is signed by Olympio on the back of the canvas. The many layers in his work further emphasize the texture and visceral nature of his canvases. The painting is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping are available. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included.
For the abstract artist Olympio, art is a dance of textures and colors, woven from an eclectic medley of canvas and textiles. Each stroke on his canvas is a nod to the classical ideals of modern abstraction, a harmonious blend of purpose and spontaneity. The linens and canvases he selects have borne witness to various conditions and interactions, embracing the imprints of their past experiences. Olympio meticulously stretches, glues, and layers these diverse fabrics together, infusing them with additional layers of acrylic paint, a fusion of careful craft and serendipitous revelation.
In Olympio's art, deliberate strokes mingle with accidental splashes, forming a mesmerizing canvas that speaks to the ethos of modernism's evolution. It's a reminder that the legends of yesteryears now manifest as a distinct style, a testament to their enduring influence. His mastery over the medium amplifies, imbuing each piece with a romantic essence carefully counterbalanced by his practiced modesty. The strokes, swirling and turbulent, are immersed in a rich, opulent application of paint, akin to an expansive honeysuckle-pink landscape or a brooding soot-gray abyss. Yet within this whirlwind of impressions, Olympio maintains a sense of purpose, an elusive process that surrenders control to the animated paint and sculptural fabrics.
Olympio possesses a rare duality, orchestrating the delicate balance between sensuality and subtlety within his creations. Navigating these opposing forces, he transcends distractions and attains the perfect pitch, crafting a visual symphony that resonates deeply.
Olympio was born into a large family of eight children in Lomé, Togo, West Africa. He began his creating art by using building scraps to make sculptures. By the time he was in high school, he started to experiment with mixed-media and collage. He later transitioned to acrylic and oil on canvas.
In 2001, Olympio left his home in Africa to live in Paris. Olympio moved to the United States in 2003 and has continued to paint. His work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, where in 2018 he was ranked one of the Top 10 Artists by Red Dot Miami. He was also recently interviewed for France 2, TV5Monde, and the BBC. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally.
