About the Item
This is my largest canvas and a combination of two themes. A few years ago I created a collection of small paintings inspired by a piece of music by Maurice Ravel. After months of painting small I was desperate to create something big which still harnessed the element of performance that had gone into my smaller works. This painting was the first in my St Ives series but it clearly has the music of Ravel flickering across the canvas.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
CAROLINE HALL worked as a reporter and presenter with the BBC in Southampton before moving to Berlin in 2000 with her family. She graduated from Winchester School of Art with a first class honours degree in Visual Art in 2004, and completed a Masters in Painting in 2007. She was named as an Artist to Watch by emerging arts specialists Degree Art in 2009. Her work is in collections worldwide.

Summer Hope is part of a series of paintings made in 2021 inspired by early morning walks on the fell landscape. Her expressive paintings are very much influenced by the idea of a new day representing a new beginning, a hopeful emotional moment. This searching for hope was undoubtedly a subconscious response to an extraordinary time and her paintings celebrate the joy and freedom of being in the landscape.
