Cat Tesla is an internationally recognized contemporary abstract painter whose work is deeply rooted in nature. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1963, Cat developed a passion for both art and science early on. She holds degrees in Biology and Graphic Design, as well as a Master’s Degree in Human Genetics. Cat spent 20 years as a genetic counselor at Emory University in Atlanta before transitioning from genetics to art. Her artistic journey includes studies with renowned artists Steven Aimone, author of “Expressive Drawing,” and Nicholas Wilton, a Sausalito-based artist and teacher. Cat’s work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries across the U.S. and the U.K., including the Knoxville Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Atlanta, and the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. With 27 years of professional experience, Tesla’s paintings are featured in over 300 corporate collections and nearly 1000 hospitals and medical centers in the U.S., as well as thousands of private collections worldwide. Her work has been highlighted by Imagery Winery in Sonoma, California, on the label of one of their 2023 wines, and profiled in Luxe magazine and Florida Design magazine in 2024. In 2025, her work will be featured in Studio Visit magazine. Recently, her nature-based abstract pieces have been added to the permanent collections of the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Capital One, and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
