At the Shore ''A la orilla''

At the Shore becomes a space of transition charged with chromatic energy. Intense yellows and greens rise against deep reds and dark tones, creating a tension that oscillates between expansion and retreat. The paint, applied with force and density, takes on an almost sculptural relief, drawing the eye across each stroke and accumulation of color.
As the title suggests, the work invites the viewer to pause at the shore, at that threshold where the known meets the uncertain.
About the Artist
Celia Herranz (Celia Herr) was born in Segovia, Spain.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts with a postgraduate focus in Advertising Drawing. With more than twenty years of experience, she combines her artistic career with teaching drawing and painting to children and adults in academies, schools, and private lessons.
Her most recent solo exhibition at the Palacio Quintanar in Segovia (November 29, 2024 – February 23, 2025) presented three strands of her practice:
Heavily textured oil paintings,
Black-and-white ink washes on paper, which she calls “skeletons of memory”,
Sculptures made from recycled glass, transforming everyday objects into totemic forms that balance fragility with interior weight.
Her work is defined by deep colors, expressive brushwork, and the transformation of observed reality into sculpted painting.
