About the Item
Charles GIAI-GISCHIA (born in 1956), Loved Flights, Araponga, oil on canvas, signed, titled and dated 1984 at the bottom, 146 x 104 cm. Excellent condition.
Excerpt from his biography : He was born in Grenoble in 1956, to a mother of Polish origin born in Vienna and a Holocaust survivor, and a father of Corsican and Italian origin, born in Morocco. Coming from a working-class background, he took courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Grenoble, then continued his studies in Paris. He exhibited for the first time in 1984 in Elisabeth Krief's gallery in Paris, then in 1985 at the Avignon Festival. Between 1986 and 1990 he lived in Sweden where he exhibited. He returned to France in 1990. He currently lives and works in Gentilly.

For over two decades, Dana Frankfort has explored the vexing periphery between language and sight by painting words. Rather than laying claim to the paintings, controlling their semiotic pulse, her words serve as the formal armature; they prop up, ventilate, and allow the many layers of paint to breathe.
