A tall tree in warm autumn color presides over an abstract landscape. Artist Chris Wagner used his signature style of negative white space to simplify and focus the scene. "This painting is a product of a day trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia during the height of leaf season," shares Chris. "A few select trees stood out so brilliantly that I wanted them to be the sole subject of my canvas, letting them shine while only giving a hint of their surroundings."
About the Artist
Chris Wagner uses color to express his unique vision of the people and places around him. He currently lives in North Carolina and enjoys keeping up with artists from around the world through Facebook. In his work, he tries to focus on subjects that contrast lights and darks. He recently found inspiration in the way a strong back light created amazing shapes and shadows.
