About the Item

New Beginning - 2017 by Christel Haag Large vividly colorful abstract piece by award winning German artist Christel Haag. original painting acrylic on canvas - stretched ready to hang. Ships securely from London. About the artist : « A life without color is unthinkable. I dedicate myself to my late love, colorful abstract painting, with all the more passion and joy. » Christel Haag is an award-winning German artist whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. She associates painting with joy, the joy of the present moment, and the joy of creation. Through her abstract compositions, Haag wants to share her joie de vivre and the diversity of nature and its beauty with the viewer. She paints exclusively using acrylics. Christel Haag lives and works in Munich in Germany. Her work is very process orientated and she uses an entire arsenal of mark making to create her art. Christel often contrasts thick paint against thin. She might scratch deep into the paint or drag it across the canvas to create blurry rainbows of color. The evolution of her paintings does not follow a predetermined concept. Rather, her works gradually evolve in an intuitive and dynamic process. First she applies acrylic paints to the canvas using various techniques to then remove excess paint in several steps or rework the surface. The initial shapes, brush strokes and visual rhythm on the canvas are interwoven, overlap or come together in a new way and determine the direction the painting process has to go until a harmonious, coherent painting emerges. Nature inspires her. Its beauty and harmony, its diversity and colorfulness fascinates Christel again and again. The marvelous impressions she takes home from my travels, she frequently uses in their abstract form in her paintings. It is first and foremost the joy of painting, of colors, of the creative process itself and of the energy of being and thus of life that drives her artistic creation. abstract expressionism contemporary art
