Christina Major
The work of American painter Christina Major sees a convergence of styles that she has made uniquely her own. Collectors will find traces of Pop art, Photorealism and Expressionism in the wide range of distinctive portraits she has created over the years.
A closer inspection of each large-scale canvas, which is prepared with gesso and stretched, will also reveal the integration of text — Major layers hand-painted words and phrases in cursive over each of her painted subjects’ faces, which draws on her background in graphic design and affords the artist the chance to share her own memories and opinions or general thoughts on the subject of a given work.
Major, a native of Concord, New Hampshire, centers her paintings on cultural icons. She has painted the visages of American musician Prince, actresses Lauren Bacall and Audrey Hepburn, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, as well as Pop art staples such as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.
After living in several places around the world, Major is now based in Florida and earned her MFA at Florida Atlantic University, and has exhibited throughout South Florida. Her work is held in private collections in the United States and elsewhere.

- Oil on Canvas of Frank SinatraBy Christina MajorLocated in West Palm Beach, FLQuotes within painting: "If you don't know a guy on the other side of the world, love him anyway because he is just like you. He has the same dreams the same hopes and fears. It's one world pal, we are all neighbors. A big lesson in life baby, it's never be scared of anyone or anything. I'm gonna live till I die. The best revenge is massive success. Don't hide your scars they make you who you are. Fear the enemy of logic. There is no more debilitating, crushing , self-defeating, sickening thing in this world to an individual or to a nation. It's Billie Holiday who was and still remains the greatest single musical influence on me. You only go around once, but if you play your cards right, one is enough. Fairytales can come true, it can happen to you if you're young at heart. I'm for anything and for everything that bodes love and consideration for my fellow." As an undergraduate Christina Major developed into a portrait painter. Major has been interested in the ways the identity of both artist and subject can coexist in a portrait. Major also has a desire to combine portrait painting with writing (inspired from her Graphic Design studies) as well as to develop methods of using paint to express a merging of herself with the individual depicted in the portrait. Her creative research focuses on the traditional form of the portrait as a powerful form of representing an individual and how meaning can be expanded through scale, brushstroke, color, texture, composition and the many variables that portraiture deals with. Major looks to expand on the traditional portrait painting...Category

- Bay ViewBy Angel Ramiro SanchezLocated in Sag Harbor, NYPainted from life, a bright and colorful seascape of a bay beneath a rich blue sky and reaching lavender clouds. A sliver of dark greens depict a thin horizon. Signed: Angel Ramiro Sanchez in lower right corner Angel Ramiro Sanchez was born in 1974 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. At age six was accepted with full scholarship into the Instituto the Niños Cantores del Zulia, school for musically gifted children. At age fourteen he began five years of apprenticeship with the realist painter, Abdon J. Romero, an eminent specialist in murals for churches and public buildings. In 1993, a study grant from Mgr. Gustavo Ocando Yamarte, Founder the Niños Cantores, enabled him to travel to Florence, Italy, where he studied at the renowned Accademia di Belle Arti, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1997. At the same time, he was enrolled at The Florence Academy of Art,founded by painter Daniel Graves, where he received a diploma in Painting. Ramiro was appointed senior painting instructor at The Florence Academy of Art in 1997, and is currently Director of the Advanced Painting Program. Ramiro paints only from life, searching for accuracy beyond physical appearance to reach the psychological state of his subject. He believes the painter must draw his information from "all five senses" to tell the complete human story. Ramiros work is predominantly represented by th e Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York, but also Scriba Gallery, venice, Italy, Jack Meier Gallery, Houston, Tx. - KakaduBy Helen RobinsonLocated in Deddington, GBA memory of past travels to the beautiful, unspoilt and timeless Kakadu National Park in Australia's Northern Territories. The white egret provides the focal point, flying above the wetlands towards the distant gum trees with their distinctive white trunks. The main colours are blends of blues and greens with a cream strip defining the break between floodplains and land. Helen Robinson, painter, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Helen Robinson's atmospheric oil paintings represent impressionable moments in her life, mostly inspired by her love of travel and the sea. Following a career in town planning, Helen pursued her interest in art and has now been painting regularly for over 15 years. In 2013, she obtained an Honours degree in Art History when she found she was drawn mostly to artists who painted light. Influences include the 17th century Dutch landscape painters...Category
