An original painting by Christina Sadler also known as Maker Who Doesn't Make. The natural world is a great inspiration in the creation of Christina's work. However, the act of painting is as important when creating. She manipulates the materials, sometimes allowing them to move freely and other times directing them into a space; a balance of control between paint and painter. In this painting the feeling of movement is evident. Inspired by winter and the changes it brings, water to ice and back again, fog to clarity, cold to warmth... Christina says "this painting for me is a combination of memories that winter weather brings. Such as moments when you wake and the landscape is covered in a blanket of snow, being warm inside and looking out at the cold world, those footsteps on crunchy icy ground, the blast of cold air on your face. I'm fascinated about how paintings can evoke memories and feelings. When I was painting this it felt like painting a patchwork of winter."
