About the Item
Reverse painting on acrylic by Christopher Martin. His work features a balance between organic formation and painterly construct. Organic Expressionism is a succinct way to describe Martin's process. He starts with a clear acrylic panel and applies heat, air, water, brush, and acrylic and iridescent pigments in reverse order to create his paintings. In reverse glass painting, the artist works from the foreground to the background with the initial strokes being the most imperative and the final being of very little consequence— the inverse of a canvas.
CANTATA I is a diptych that features interlaced thick white lines and thin black lines on a medium dark splattered gray background. The detail shots show organic and intentional brushstrokes. The finished acrylic panels are mounted on receded wooden frames painted white. Signed on the backside. The painting can also hang in a vertical position.
