Cindy Shaoul
"Dripping Dots - Antique Gold" Mixed Media and Oil on Canvas Abstract Painting

2017

About the Item

With layers of bright oils and whisking brush strokes, the paint is able to shine and shimmer in a very unique pattern. This painting is from Shaoul's more modern collective works with a very decorative contemporary style. The way the paint blends and washes into other colors gives it a very elegant feel. This style is focused on the simplicity of beauty in the moment; the artist creates a translucent but very colorful pallet with thick use of paint, evoking a result which is clean, fresh and modern. This piece is from the artists "Dripping Dots" Series. Art measures 20 x 16 in Cindy Shaoul was born in 1987 in New York. She is a visual listed American artist best known for 3 distinct styles, "Dripping Dots, Stepping Out, and Old Hollywood." With a Hungarian-Persian background that comes from a lineage of artists, Shaoul has matured unique expressions with her own voice and story to tell. She is the granddaughter and pupil of late world-renowned Hungarian artist Albert Sz. Nemethy, whose paintings can be found in the White House, the Kremlin in Russia, and Museums in the U.S. and Hungary. After completing her professional education at Emerson College in Boston, Shaoul later moved to Israel and Hungary to study culture and science while absorbing the energy of these new cities. In Budapest, she attended the Budai Art Institute from 2007-2009, later returning to New York City to continue her artistic education at the Art Students League, where she worked under the tutelage of Joseph Peller, Gregg Kreutz, and Tom Torak. In 2010 she met renowned street artist LA II (Angel Ortiz) who previously worked with Keith Haring in the late 1980’s. LA II strongly influenced her style with the powerful impact of 1980s hip-hop and graffiti. They began collaborating on a collection of exciting street art which later exhibited in Europe. Having built a diverse body of work since her early career ranging from portraits to colorful abstract paintings, Cindy is constantly reinventing her style working on a range of collections from Pop Culture to City Street Scenes. She is identified prominently for her colorful "Dripping Dots" series that is focused on a pointillistic style, achieving simplicity of beauty in the moment, creating a translucent but very rich pallet evoking a result which is clean, fresh and modern. Her "Stepping Out" series focuses on women in New York, capturing moments that are ever fleeting on the go, busy and determined. And lastly, her "Old Hollywood" collection that goes back in time with an Ashcan school approach depicting street scenes from the early 20th Century evoking a moody tone with thick use of paint, and a more subdued color pallet. Her whimsicality is precious, leaving much room for nostalgia in her works. For more than a decade her pieces have been a part of several important Exhibitions throughout New York City. Her paintings are part of private collections including ‘Dr. Issac Shohar’ and ‘Zion Yakabov’ in Tel Aviv, Israel, and ‘Alex Acevedo’ on Madison Ave., New York. PROVENANCE: Lilac Gallery Collection. Signed lower left. This original artwork includes a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Gallery. The piece will be stamped from Lilac Gallery on its verso.

REFLECTIONS 1 - Contemporary Atmospheric Landscape, Modern Seascape Painting
By Grzegorz Wójcik
Located in Salzburg, AT
A few words of the artist about his art: When i painting landscapes, I usually choose simple geometric arrangements, contrasts of verticals and levels. I juxtapose the smooth surface of the sky with the rough texture of earth or grass. I paint symmetrical reflections in water and rhythmic repetitions of trees. Even an ordinary, seemingly uninteresting fragment of the suburban landscape hides a beauty that I want to see and then transfer to the canvas. I am inspired by nature because it contains a hidden secret of existence. For me, painting it is a reflection on life and passing away. It is an attempt to capture the imperceptible essence, to paint what cannot be seen. I think that my paintings can be a respite, an antidote for a man tired of technology, constant rush, hustle and bustle of the city. Grzegorz Wójcik...

Cityscape, Acrylic on Canvas, Blue, Red, Yellow by Contemporary Artist"In Stock"
By Tapas Ghosal
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Tapas Ghosal - Untitled - 12 x 12 inches ( unframed size) ) Acrylic on Canvas , 2022 *** Framed ( packing : complimentary; shipping cost would need to be extra) Style : In Hindu philosophy, the 'Antahkaran' refers to the totality of two levels of mind , namely the Buddhi, the intellect or higher mind, and the Manas, the middle levels of mind which exist as or include the mental body. It refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions. Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces, sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind, enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of mystic silence. The extant contemplative in wardress in him got charged with meditative spirituality through his association with this heritage city. Benaras, started flowing in his canvasses both through landscapes and human faces. Since 1995-96 his Benaras paintings started transforming. Initially his landscapes contained reflection of naturalness transformed through melancholic chiaroscuro. Gradually the naturalness started disintegrating into expressionistic structures. At a certain stage during 2004-05 some of these structures yielded into abstractions shedding all the links with naturalness. Then again the sign-symbols integrated into geometrical structures reflecting traces of original locations. About the Artist and his works : Born : Born in 1965. Tapas spent his childhood and early youth in the quiet idyllic environment of rural Bengal. The soothing lyrical landscape and the intrinsic mythical past within the rural life made a great impact in his inner being, which aroused in him love for beauty, spiritual in nature, making him contemplative and inward looking. Educational Qualification : 1989 : Graduation in Painting from Govt.College of Art and Craft, Kolkata (First Class First) 1992 : Post Graduate in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (First Class). Solo Exhibition : 1993 : The Centre Art Gallery, Kolkata; 1994 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : ABC Art...
