Jodi Fuchs creates modern abstract expressionistic artworks with undeniable energy. Years of inquiry into the metaphysical aspects of life have influenced her studio practice. This is where the act of creation is the muse. By following intuitive impulses, Fuchs' work speaks to the chaos and stillness (and the reconciliation of these two forces) inherent in the human experience. Her education about color and pattern came on the job while working as a decorative painter for 20+ years. One hundred thousand wine labels by Georges Duboeuf have been adorned with her art. Fuchs' work has been featured on 50+ TV and film productions, graced the lobbies of hotels from New York to Miami to Portland Oregon, and has been exhibited and collected worldwide. Working with the memories and emotions of both joy and saudade for time past and life experience gained, her practice reflects her fundamental need to express this bitter- sweet nature of the human condition through abstracted scape and form. In this work Parr is interested in conveying both the joy and the apprehension of her memory of an overnight trip in the darkness to fish with her father. Gina Parr is available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Gina works predominantly in the medium of painting, but also photographs when traveling: her way of painting whilst on the move.
