About the Item
From Earth to Air is a series of abstract paintings made up of acrylics and collage art. The inspiration for this series comes from the rare event in astronomy of the Great Conjunction with the meeting of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius on 21st December 2020. This was the closest meeting between these two planets in over 400 years! And the first time in our lifetime, (from previously always meeting in earth signs), that they are now meeting in an air sign and will be meeting in air signs thereafter. This will hopefully bring positive changes in terms of a collective, ideas, innovation, humanitarianism, revolution, technology, science and art! Our world as we know it will be hopefully bringing about change, with the forward-thinking ways and progressive ideas of Aquarius. In terms of the paintings they focus on thick heavy acrylic brush strokes and collage layers to give depth to represent the physical world with colour and shapes to form motion leading and transitioning into air elements, a shifting sense of uplifting and rising to higher forms than we know. The paintings have lots of negative space to give a sense of space, allowing the painting to flow and breathe and to represent the free-flowing air elements. On a personal level, being born under the sign of Aquarius, I felt particularly inspired by these planetary changes to work with this theme for a painting series and to work with traditional thick brush strokes, while investigating colours and form and creating a sense of shifting space. After we have faced a difficult few years I wanted to create pieces that are bright, positive, healing and uplifting. Things may not change right away but in time we should notice a shift from the focus on the physical materialistic earth elements to the more ethereal and futuristic air elements on an individual and collective level. This series will aim to explore this fascinating, exciting astrological time of change! Please note that images with the background are not shown to scale and are for display purposes only. Corinne Natel
Corinne Natel is a London-based contemporary artist mostly known for her circular fluid mixed media paintings. She was born in 1978 and holds a BA honors degree in multimedia from the University of Bedfordshire. By exploring form and color, Natel creates works inspired by nature, her travels around the world and fashion. Wanting to explore the multi-levels of space and texture, she can capture the movement of paint effortlessly with the use of gravity, science and math. Natel also often explores the theme of seasons and nature, further expanding how she is inspired by color. Thus, learning how this relationship can grow and multiply with the use of texture and design, to then create new and wonderful environments in her paintings.

The present work of art titled "Urban Abstraction (ripped off posters)" is part of a series of paintings that the artist composed in the 1980s and 1990s inspired by the observation of the urban reality of those years.
The artist take the cue from his walks in Florence, both in the center and in the suburbs, and by the observation of billboards and posters scattered throughout the city.
The mass of information, colors, messages and words were carried on the canvas with acrylic colors, ideally reconstructing the tears and overlaps of all the information and advertising contained on these huge sheets of paper that invade our cities.

The result is a beautiful multicolored modern abstract canvas, both aesthetically and ethically, with many rich layers of color, texture and expression in which the artist leaves his own message.
The painting is housed in a simple modern white lacquer wood frame.
