David A. Dreyer was born in Dallas in 1958, and earned his BFA and MFA at Southern Methodist University. He has had solo exhibitions at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary in Dallas, The Grace Museum in Abilene, Texas, and five exhibitions of paintings and sculpture at Valley House Gallery.
About his recent exhibition exhibition, Dreyer stated:
"The title "Blues Before Dawn" comes from my time of creative endeavor. The hours before sunrise are a special time when most are settled into a space of sleep and dreams, a quiet place to reflect. In that place of reflection I create imagery derived not solely of tangible or direct observation but of intuitive organization and imagination. The subsequent paintings and sculpture reflect those symbiotic elements. Subtly, like Blues music the imagery is full of line, form, color and at times revealing lyric troubles."
