About the Item
Artist Comments
Artist David Forsthoefel depicts a semi-abstract landscape in earthy tones of green and orange. He paints a brilliant scene without references and strictly from imagination. David relies on his senses for composition, color, and texture to create an imaginary landscape that evokes a dynamic rural view. Bright colors and geometric patterns portray nature in a different light with a sense of earthly abundance.
About the Artist
David Forsthoefel uses an impressionistic approach to celebrate the variety of Midwest geology, fauna and seasonal color. He strives to capture an integrated blend of shape, color and tone that revels in the abstract qualities of the paint itself. David is a native of Dayton, Ohio, and now lives in Cincinnati. His interest in the visual arts began at a very young age, with early forays into drawing with Jon Gnagy and his Learn to Draw series on television. This first exposure sparked a life-long search for artistic expression that included a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Louisville, and a career as a commercial illustrator and designer. Since retiring, he has devoted much of his artistic energy to painting the natural landscape in and around Cincinnati. He is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the Lexington Art Guild of Florida and the Transparent Watercolor Society. When not in his home studio, David helps care for his six grandchildren. He says he also has a serious golf habit that takes him outside to observe nature.

Artist Comments
Artist Sharon Sieben paints an abstract display of expressive cobalt blue strokes. A majestic and imaginative representation of sailing through the ocean. "I observed this when I could feel the rush of wind in sails and hear the sea splash against the hull," says Sharon. Accents of green create a stimulating complement to the flurry of dramatic brushwork.About the Artist

Her parents bought her a set of oil paints when she was ten years old and it sparked her love of art. She especially admires the work of Impressionist artists such as Paul Cezanne because of how they broke tradition.
