About the Item
Diomedes No 5 is a contemporary abstract oil painting by David Richardson, part of his Trojan War series, inspired by Homer's Iliad. The blood-reds contrast with the deep royal blues to create an atmosphere of intensity and adrenaline, capturing Hector's (Prince of Troy) violent and mighty nature. The scene is characterized by blood, a violent scene. The checkboard pattern represents strategy and battle, blending into the red, saying that with war comes bloodshed.
Artist Biography:
David Richardson is from Waterford, Michigan. He was taught to draw and paint by his mother, an artist and art teacher. Richardson studied biology and art while attending Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. His primary medium is oil, and he also works in acrylic and metal. Richardson became a Colonel during his time in the US Marine Corps, an experience he draws inspiration from to create his artwork. He also marries images from the epics of Homer into his work, creating truly haunting abstracts.
Colonel David Richardson was born in Michigan and is currently based in Arlington, VA. He was taught to paint by his mother, an artist and teacher, in his youth. Richardson draws inspiration from his experience in the US Marine Corps and Homer's Iliad to create his works. A master of oil painting, Richardson also works in acrylic and metal.
