About the Item

Mother Earth, 2024 Signed Acrylic on Canvas 60 x 50 cm 23 5/8 x 19 3/4 in Framed: 64 x 54 cm In her work, contemporary Irish artist Debbie Chapman, explores several interconnecting themes: the essence of humanity, the narratives we construct for ourselves, and the profound influence we exert on one another, as well as our remarkable planet and other organisms that we share it with. She paints as a way of understanding and to start conversations that might make people think and reflect, hopefully in a kinder, gentler, more responsible way. Debbie creates modern, contemporary artwork, incorporating acrylics, oils and elements of collage. Her practice is grounded in figurative expression, symbolism and abstraction. Organic shapes and bold blocks of brilliant colour collaborate with realism, striving to create harmony and balance that is reflective of nature itself. Born in Co. Wexford, and having lived in London and Australia, Debbie now works from a studio in West Dublin. She exhibits internationally and has been commissioned for public, corporate and personal collections, such as The Hermitage Medical Centre, Waterford General Hospital, Dublin City Council and others. In 2023 she collaborated with U2's Adam Clayton to create an artwork for the "Elephant In The Room Project" in support of The Samaritans.

Tangerine Dream Acrylic on Canvas 24 x 18 1/8 in 61 x 46 cm "I consider myself a ‘Fusionist’, because I merge styles that inspire me, while playing with the fusion of East and West. I combine orientalism and primitivism with western cubist principles and the expressionists’ use of colour, to create bright and vibrant figurative images." - Amanda Watt Amanda Watt was born in Northern Ireland in 1960, and graduated from the Belfast College of Art and Design in 1982. Just three years out of University, while living in London, Amanda was discovered by top film director Barry Levinson, who invited her to Malibu to paint from his beach house for six months. From this moment, her art took off, and she spent the next twenty years building a successful career in California, making her way into collections of many key LA directors, producers, galleries, and film stars. With annual solo shows in LA, San Francisco and New York, Amanda's bright, vibrant landscapes, interior scenes, and her semi-abstract figurative paintings have became a staple of Californian society.
