This abstract work by artist Denise Presnell brings a large dose of color and abstraction into any room its placed in. There is an energy and mystery to the composition, especially with the use of layering and texture, that gives the work a powerful quality. Though in some ways rather muted, the panel still manages to burst with color in shades of yellow, gold, red, blue, and green.
Artist Commentary:
My work in this style embraces the Neo-Romantic notion of throwing caution to the wind.
About the Artist:
Denise Presnell is a painter/mixed media artist currently living and working in Sheboygan, WI. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and her MFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania State University. Graduate school was followed by 31 years of teaching art on the college/university level. 27 of those years were spent teaching art at Lakeland College – now Lakeland University. Denise’s work has been exhibited in over one hundred solo, group, and competitive exhibitions across the United States as well as exhibitions in Tokyo, Botswana, Kenya, and Shanghai. Her work is currently on view in the Coconino Arts Center exhibition - NightVisions 2022 and 3 Square Art's exhibition, Color 2022.
