Donald Martiny’s work involves allowing gesture to escape from the traditional rectangular support and realize its potential in relation to architectural space. His works create a conversation between the viewer, the work and the space.
His work is in numerous public, private and museum collections.
He recently was awarded the commission for One World Trade Center where he created two monumental works.
Martiny was born in Schenectady, New York in 1953. He lives and works in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and studied at the School of the Visual Arts, The Art Students League in New York, New York University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
