About the Item
With Arctic 2 the Arctic series continues. It is another painting that I have recycled. I used coarse and fine-grained modeling pastes, a homemade paste made from marble powder and acrylic binder, and, for the first time, a ready-made crackle paste. At first, I only knew that it would be an abstract landscape painting, but as soon as I applied the first colors, I realized that it would be a second Arctic painting. It is again a bird's-eye view showing a fjord or a long open space in the Arctic Sea and ice floes, either as a compact mass (above) or breaking up (below). On the right-hand side is an open area of land that is initially flat (beach) and then becomes more distinctive and compact in shape. I chose dark colors, similar to those found on Icelandic beaches, where crushed basalt rock is responsible for the black beaches.
